Miskin Manor

is a historic Grade II listed Tudor-style country house located in Pontyclun, South Wales, set in 25 acres of award-winning landscaped gardens.

The estate's history dates to the 10th century, with the current Victorian manor house originally built in 1864.

It is known for period features, especially the Minstrel Hall with its gallery, and lush Victorian and Edwardian terraced grounds.

Chandelier

The word chandelier appeared in the English language in the late 14th century, borrowed directly from 12th century Old Spanish. This was a new spelling of the 10th century French word chandelabre, which comes from the Latin candelabrum, itself from the Latin candela (meaning candle).

The earliest candle chandeliers were used by the wealthy in medieval times.

The world's largest Bohemian crystal chandelier, a gift from Queen Victoria, is located in the Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul. It has 750 lamps and weighs 4.5 tons. Dolmabahçe has the largest collection of Bohemian and Baccarat crystal chandeliers in the world, and one of the great staircases has balusters of Baccarat crystal.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in eighteenth-century France and revived in the early twentieth century, tent chandeliers feature an upper cone or tent of strung crystal beads tapering upwards, paired with a lower basket construction anchored by a metal band.

Traditional construction combines hand-cut lead glass or crystal droplets wired onto a cast bronze, brass, or wrought iron armature, often featuring turned candle sleeves and glass drip pans.

Authentic period examples typically exhibit hand-pinned crystal beads with subtle structural variations, patinated bronze or brass frameworks, cast metal decorative accents, and original wire pin connections.

A substantial crystal chandelier serves as a focal point above a dining table, in a formal entrance hall, or positioned centrally within a high-ceilinged drawing room to balance traditional ornament with contemporary proportions.

Dust individual drops regularly using a soft microfibre cloth; for deeper cleaning, apply a specialist crystal cleaning solution sprayed onto a cloth rather than directly onto the metal framework to prevent oxidisation.
