Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A burr walnut cocktail cabinet is a piece of storage furniture crafted during the early-to-mid 20th century, specifically designed to store spirits, glassware, and mixing equipment. These cabinets gained prominence in the 1920s and 1930s with the rise of home entertaining and cocktail culture, frequently featuring highly figured wood veneers and elaborate brass hardware.

Drinks cabinets from the early 20th century typically featured solid oak or pine carcases faced with decorative veneers such as burr walnut, mahogany, or maple. Internal surfaces often incorporated mirrored glass, brass fittings, and wipeable glass or Bakelite preparation surfaces, supported on carved wooden frames or brass legs.

Authentic period pieces exhibit natural variation in the grain of the burr walnut veneer, hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, and genuine patinated brass hardware. Additionally, period construction techniques show hand-planed secondary woods inside the carcase and original lock mechanisms rather than modern magnetic catches.

A classic burr walnut drinks cabinet works well as a focal point in a modern dining room, drawing room, or hallway. Contrast its warm wood tones and ornate brass work against moody paint colours or contemporary wallpaper, complemented by modern barware placed nearby.

Burr walnut veneer should be kept away from direct sunlight, radiators, and moisture sources to prevent cracking or lifting. Regular dusting with a soft microfiber cloth and an occasional application of high-quality beeswax nourishes the wood finish and maintains the polish without damaging metal mounts.
