Description

1930s Rotherham & Sons pocket watch and chain.

The watch has a Swiss 7-jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is stamped Rands Minor. The name Rands (R and S for Rotherham & Sons) was registered in 1928 and was first seen in adverts for the 1929 British Industries Fair where the company was listed as ‘manufacturers of English gold and silver watches in all varieties’. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has some unevenness.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is nickel. The front and side of the case are in good condition, some unevenness to the case back.

The glass lens is in lovely condition.

The dial is in lovely condition with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

The watch comes with a single chain, 28cm long including the T-bar and the clasp.

The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
