Also Antique Furniture has dated these Victorian Oak Velvet Armchairs to the Victorian era.
Each chair features a padded rectangular back, open arms supported by distinctive square, diaper-carved uprights, and a generously padded seat. They stand on turned oak legs united by turned stretchers and retain their original brass castors, allowing them to be moved with ease.

These impressive chairs are believed to have been acquired by Charles Richard Banastre Legh (1821–1888) for Adlington Hall, Cheshire.

CONDITION
The chairs are in good, solid, clean condition and present well overall. Both chairs display minor marks, knocks and scratches consistent with their age and use. One front foot has an old repair, and there are areas of filler to the turned central stretcher of one chair associated with a historic repair. Some sections of the decorative tassels have become loose over time. Two brass castors on one chair are loose but remain in position. Overall, these are an attractive and sturdy pair of Victorian armchairs with honest signs of age and use that do not detract from their appearance or functionality.

As with all antique and vintage furniture, this piece has been used and enjoyed over many years and should be expected to show signs of age and use. We aim to describe any significant faults, repairs or alterations as accurately and honestly as possible. The photographs form an important part of the description and should be viewed alongside the written condition report. If you would like further information or additional photographs, we are always happy to help before purchase.
