George III Oak Lowboy

DESCRIPTION
 
An attractive George III oak lowboy dating from around 1770, retaining a rich mellow colour and pleasing proportions. With its compact footprint, original brass handles and distinctive Gothic-arched kneehole, it makes an elegant occasional table, side table or dressing table for both period and contemporary interiors.
 
The plank top with ogee moulded front and side edges sits above one long and two short cockbeaded drawers with pine linings. The chest is fitted with brass swan-neck handles and stands on straight legs with chamfered inner angles.

CONDITION
 
The lowboy is in good, solid condition with an attractive rich colour and a sound top. The drawers run smoothly, the joints are stable and the brass handles appear to be original.
