Description:
Benefitting from a freestanding design, this small fire basket is designed with a dome backplate embossed with four men, depicting a working scene.

The antique cast iron fire grate features two tall square flat finials at the rear, and two brass finials at the front. Featuring block feet at the rear, with splayed shoes to the front. The small fire grate basket is constructed with three shaped horizontals bars for keeping the logs in place. The internal floor grate can be removed from the basket, allowing for easy cleaning. The antique cast iron grate can be used with solid fuels, such as wood or coal. The log basket weights 21kg. The small fire grate is constructed of cast and hand forged iron and the open fire grate features an attractive finish, giving it a lovely colour and appearance.

This antique hearth grate would look superb in a variety of small hearths or fireside locations. It would certainly grace any home and is a great investment as it not only extremely functional but also highly decorative, which can also house floral displays.

Condition Report:
This is a fine quality small English 18th century style antique fireplace basket, embossed with a working scene, made from solid cast iron, circa 1920, in excellent original condition. The item is solid in joint and is robust. Nominal old use marks, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There are no breaks to the cast iron. The internal grate floor is in good working condition. The grate features an attractive rustic finish, giving it a lovely colour and appearance. This log basket is reassuringly solid and heavy, and it is ready to use.
