Wigs on the Green has dated these Georgian Child Portrait Watercolours to the Georgian era.
The eldest wears a black skeleton suit over a shirt with a wide frill-edged collar, a style that remained popular over many decades for young boys that had been breeched.

Watercolour on card with some fading to the flesh tones housed in the original period giltwood frames with an inner beaded border. Both frames have rubbing to the gilding that lends a wonderful patina; one frame has some old loss to the beaded border. So nice to find these as a matched pair.
