Rare Spode Long Bridge Reticulated Chestnut Basket, Regency Period, C.1810-1815

An authentic antique Spode pottery chestnut basket produced in Staffordshire during the Regency period, circa 1810-1815. Decorated in underglaze blue transferware, it features the scarce Long Bridge Pattern P619, one of the most desirable early blue-printed designs produced by the factory.
 
Created using the traditional copperplate transfer printing process, the decoration displays remarkable clarity and precision. Long Bridge is recognised as an important precursor to the celebrated Willow Pattern, sharing the same Chinese-inspired decorative tradition while remaining considerably scarcer. The distinctive landscape includes only two figures crossing the bridge, while two boats carrying standing figures replace the familiar flying birds found on Willow Pattern wares.
