Ritas Bazaar has dated this Spode Reticulated Chestnut Basket to the Georgian era.
Created using the traditional copperplate transfer printing process, the decoration displays remarkable clarity and precision. Long Bridge is recognised as an important precursor to the celebrated Willow Pattern, sharing the same Chinese-inspired decorative tradition while remaining considerably scarcer. The distinctive landscape includes only two figures crossing the bridge, while two boats carrying standing figures replace the familiar flying birds found on Willow Pattern wares.
The elegant oval body is enriched with finely hand-pierced reticulation and retains its original rope-twist handles. The unmarked base displays kiln spur marks and characteristic cobalt glaze pooling, all consistent with early nineteenth-century Spode manufacture. Fine Regency examples of this rare pattern remain highly desirable among collectors of early English transferware.

Condition:
Very good antique condition. There is one small firing crack to the upper rim caused during manufacture. No restoration detected. Otherwise excellent for a pottery basket of this age.
