An exceptional antique French king size bed dating from circa 1880, beautifully crafted in the Louis XV taste and displaying the outstanding quality, elegance and craftsmanship associated with the finest nineteenth-century French furniture.
Constructed from richly figured kingwood, the bed features striking parquetry veneered panels to both the headboard and footboard, creating a wonderfully decorative geometric pattern with exceptional depth, colour and movement throughout. The elegant serpentine outlines are enhanced by finely cast gilt bronze ormolu mounts, including scrolling foliate ornament, corner mounts, sabots and an impressive central crest, all executed to a very high standard.
Equally suited to a period country house, luxury townhouse, boutique hotel or refined contemporary interior, this bed offers both practical comfort and timeless French elegance.
Presented in excellent antique condition, the bed retains wonderful colour, patina and crisp detail throughout.
