Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

British Art Deco furniture from the 1930s is characterised by streamlined geometric forms, smoothed corners, and the prominent use of figure-rich wood veneers such as walnut, maple, and mahogany. Design shifted away from excessive carving toward functional shapes, stepped tiers, and smooth polished surfaces.

These tables were typically constructed from solid timber framing faced with highly decorative cut veneers, such as burr walnut or walnut curl. The internal vertical dividers and shelving tiers were joined using traditional cabinetmaking techniques to maximize structural stability.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-matched veneer grain patterns, natural age patination, and period construction hallmarks such as hand-finished edge banding and period glue lines. The absence of modern synthetic finishes or modern particle board core material helps confirm period authenticity.

An Art Deco book table functions well as an end table positioned next to an armchair or sofa, providing integrated storage for volumes and magazines. Its low height and multi-tiered surfaces also allow it to serve as a compact bedside stand or focal piece in an reading nook.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish periodically along the direction of the wood grain. Keep the table away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent timber shrinkage, veneer lifting, or finish fading.
