Large Architectural Fretwork Clock Case, Late 19th/early 20th Century

£750    $1,004    €878
A large and highly decorative architectural clock case in hand-carved wood, likely late 19th to early 20th century. The case is built as a multi-tiered facade with pierced tracery, arcaded galleries and steep gables, surmounted by four slender spires. Details include chip-carved rope mouldings around the base, miniature stairs and balustrades, lantern-like side finials and intricate foliate panels; some spires retain small metal bells. The circular dial aperture is approximately 10.5cm in diameter; no movement, dial or glass is present. Would make a great window for displaying a small work of art or your personal treasure! Dimensions: about 99cm high, 48cm wide and 26cm deep. Condition: presents well for display but, as expected with complex fretwork of this age, there are several losses and small chips to the openwork and finials.
