Fabulous Pair of French Walnut Armchairs in Pure Silk

This is a fabulous pair of French carved walnut armchairs dating from around 1900. The chairs have been meticulously and very skilfully hand made to an incredible standard.They have a very heavy hardwood frame in solid walnut with absolutely no give and tight joints and a show frame in intricately carved solid walnut.

The design is very eye catching with sweeping curves and carved floral knop hand rests which clearly reflect the changing fashions of the times.

These beautiful armchairs are upholstered in a shell pink silk brocade and have deep buttoning to the back and a separate thick squab cushion, feather filled, making a most comfortable seat. The upholstery is to a standard difficult to find these days and wonderfully has had little use as it is in excellent condition throughout, with no wear or fading at all.

This pair of armchairs were actually part of a suite of upholstered furniture. We currently still have the matching walnut coffee table with the same quirky carved walnut knops.

The chairs measure 72 cms high by 87 cms wide by 90 deep overall.

The squab cushion measures 62 cms wide by 62 cms deep with the seat being 40 cms from the floor.
