Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originally designed to sit against the wall space between two windows, known as a pier, these low cabinets feature glazed doors and ornamental detailing, serving primarily as display pieces for prized collection items.

These cabinets are constructed using figured hardwoods such as walnut or mahogany, accented with boxwood marquetry or stringing inlay, cast brass or ormolu mounts, clear glass panels, and velvet-lined interior shelves.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut floral or geometric marquetry, cast brass or gilt bronze side mounts, period lock plates, hand-cut dovetail joints on internal framing, and natural timber oxidisation on unseen surfaces.

Place the cabinet in a hallway, drawing room alcove, or dining area to display porcelain, books, or glassware, using the top surface to support a table lamp, framed artwork, or decorative brassware.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish along the grain once or twice a year, ensuring the piece is positioned away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
