Mezzotint Portrait Of Queen Charlotte (1744-1818) - By James Mccardell After Jeremiah Meyer.

Fine early coronation-era mezzotint portrait of Queen Charlotte which represents one of the most prominent official profile likenesses of the young Queen. She is depicted half-length at approximately seventeen or eighteen years of age, shortly after her marriage to King George III in September 1761.
 
The monarch is depicted in sharp profile facing toward the right in a profile perspective which was was heavily popularised by coronation medals and miniatures designed by Jeremiah Meyer.
 
Her hair is styled up into a tight series of curls, woven with fine pearls. A delicate tiara sets atop her head, and a wide satin bow secures her hair at the nape of her neck. She wears an elaborate, embroidered brocade dress adorned with a heavily jeweled, laced bodice. Draped over her shoulder is an ermine-lined royal cloak, a classic marker of her new sovereign status.
