Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

George IV period furniture, dating from 1820 to 1830, is defined by classical proportions, high-grade timbers such as mahogany and rosewood, and subtle decorative architectural details including recessed panels, turned knobs, and solid plinth bases.

Nineteenth-century bedside cupboards were predominantly built using solid mahogany or oak for the core frame, often featuring flame mahogany veneers on panels, oak or pine drawer linings, and cast brass knobs or lock escutcheons.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joinery, hand-planed secondary timbers like oak or pine, period-correct brass hardware, and natural timber shrinkage or surface patination consistent with two centuries of age.

A pair of mahogany pedestals works symmetrically on either side of a contemporary bed frame, or recontextualised as sofa end-tables in a formal living room to add warm wood tones to modern upholstery.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year, avoiding silicone sprays, direct sunlight, and placement adjacent to central heating radiators.
