Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian pine chests of drawers from this era typically feature practical drawer configurations, such as two short drawers over two or three long drawers. They were predominantly crafted from solid Scots or pitch pine, incorporating straightforward joinery, turned wood or brass handles, and simple plinth bases or bracket feet.

Nineteenth-century pine furniture was constructed using solid timber joined with hand-cut or early machine-cut dovetail joints. Drawer linings were frequently made of pine or secondary softwoods, with solid wooden backboards, iron nails, and cast brass or turned wooden hardware.

Authenticity can be verified by examining construction details such as hand-cut dovetail joints, asymmetrical drawer linings, cast brass keyhole escutcheons, and natural wear around the drawer runners. Original backboards will often show uneven hand-planing marks and natural timber oxidisation.

A Victorian pine chest of drawers works well when paired with neutral wall colours, contemporary artwork, and minimal decorative accessories. Positioned in a bedroom, hallway, or living space, the natural wood tones provide tactile contrast alongside modern textiles and metal accents.

Maintain natural pine by dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the wood finish. Position the furniture away from direct heat sources and prolonged sunlight to prevent excessive timber shrinkage or warping.
