Air twist flutes are stemware featuring decorative spiral air channels contained within the glass stem, a technique popularised in 18th-century Britain and reproduced in later glassmaking periods.

Air twist stems are created by introducing air pockets into a gather of molten lead crystal glass, which is then drawn out and rotated repeatedly before forming the final stem shape.

Authentic pieces display distinct, symmetrical spiral air channels inside the glass stem, density consistent with lead crystal, and smooth polished bases or original pontil marks.
