An exceptional Jacob Petit porcelain perfume bottle, modelled as a seven-tiered Chinese pagoda and produced in Paris during the Louis Philippe period, circa 1835-1845. Complete examples retaining their original interlocking stopper are rarely encountered, making this an especially desirable example.
 
Jacob Petit is regarded as one of the most inventive French porcelain manufacturers of the nineteenth century. His Chinoiserie wares are distinguished by their theatrical architectural forms, brilliant colours and elaborate gilding, all of which are beautifully represented here.
 
The perfume bottle is constructed in two interlocking sections. The lower portion forms the perfume reservoir, while the upper pagoda acts as the original stopper. The faceted body is decorated in the factory''s characteristic apple-green ground with hand-applied gilding, shaped floral reserves and richly gilded pagoda roofs.
