Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George III chest on chest, often referred to as a tallboy, is a traditional British two-part storage unit produced during the reign of King George III (17601820). It consists of a upper chest mounted on top of a slightly wider lower chest, designed to maximize vertical space.

Primary woods for Georgian furniture were mahogany, walnut, and oak, often paired with pine or oak drawer linings. Hardware typically features cast brass swan-neck or bail handles, set against dovetailed construction.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, hand-planed backboards, pine or oak secondary woods, and a frame that splits cleanly into two sections for transport. Bracket feet and dentil moulding along the cornice are also standard markers.

A painted or bleached tallboy introduces texture into contemporary neutral schemes. Place it against a muted wall as a focal storage piece, combining historical proportions with updated surface finishes.

Dust surfaces regularly with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth. Avoid harsh chemical sprays, solvents, or excessive moisture, and position the furniture away from direct heat sources to prevent timber movement.
