became internationally celebrated. Constructed in beautifully figured satinwood with rich contrasting ebony stringing and exquisite floral marquetry throughout, the piece displays remarkable colour, depth and decorative detail.

The elegant architectural form is centred by a pair of cupboard doors enclosing fitted linen shelves above a bank of four graduated drawers. Flanking the central section are two full-height wardrobes featuring large shaped mirrored doors, providing generous hanging space and practical everyday storage. The original brass handles, decorative escutcheons and fine inlaid ornamentation remain beautifully in keeping with the period.

Particularly desirable is the surviving Maple & Co. Depository label, confirming its prestigious provenance. Founded in the 19th century, Maple & Co. supplied furniture to aristocratic homes, royal residences and some of the most distinguished interiors throughout Britain and the Empire, making pieces bearing their label increasingly sought after by collectors and interior designers alike.

Beyond its practical functionality, this compactum wardrobe represents an opportunity to acquire a substantial and highly decorative piece from one of Britain's most respected furniture makers. Examples of this quality, scale and originality are becoming increasingly difficult to source.
Presented in lovely antique condition with a rich patina acquired over more than a century.
