Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1850s.
There are also bands of Mother of Pearl to the top and front complimenting the central engraved brass classical urn on the top overflowing with Mother of Pearl and Abalone shell flowers. The front escutcheon is created from the same exotic and decorative inlays.

The interior has been professionally relined in an attractive hand-marbled paper (including the removable tray)to create a nice clean finish ready for use.
The key isn't working but with it's red tassle creates a good finish for decorative purposes.
Dating to the mid-nineteenth century, c.1850, in excellent condition, measuring 12" x 9" x 5 1/4".
