Extraordinary Antique English Inlaid Walnut & Coromandel Jewelry Box C.1850

Description

An outstanding work of art, beautifully decorative, perfect for a jewellery box, table box or desk-top tidy.

The box is created from burl Walnut and Coromandel with the most exquisite and intricate wood inlays. There are also bands of Mother of Pearl to the top and front complimenting the central engraved brass classical urn on the top overflowing with Mother of Pearl and Abalone shell flowers. The front escutcheon is created from the same exotic and decorative inlays.

The interior has been professionally relined in an attractive hand-marbled paper (including the removable tray)to create a nice clean finish ready for use.

The key isn't working but with it's red tassle creates a good finish for decorative purposes.

Dating to the mid-nineteenth century, c.1850, in excellent condition, measuring 12" x 9" x 5 1/4".
