19th-Century Carved Wall Plaque — Former Tabletop
An intricately carved 19th-century wooden wall plaque, originally the top of a table, featuring detailed geometric and symbolic motifs with rich patina.
Full Description
A finely carved 19th-century wooden panel of octagonal form, originally serving as a tabletop and now presented as a decorative wall plaque. The central medallion depicts a lamb holding a flag — the Agnus Dei or “Lamb of God” — surrounded by a geometric flower-of-life pattern and radiating foliate motifs.
The craftsmanship is exceptional, with deep relief carving and symmetrical design that reflect both devotional and decorative traditions of the period. The wood has developed a warm, aged patina, enhancing the depth and texture of the carving. This piece stands as a testament to 19th-century artisan skill and symbolic artistry.
