Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A mule chest is a traditional wooden storage piece featuring a top coffer compartment with a hinged lid above one or two drawers set into the base. Popular throughout the 18th century, these chests evolved from basic blanket boxes to offer more versatile home storage.

Eighteenth-century coffers were constructed using solid timber joined with hand-cut dovetails or mortise and tenon joints. They commonly feature raised or fielded front panels, brass drop handles, and solid timber plinth or bracket bases.

Authentic period coffers display evidence of hand-tooling, such as irregular hand-saw marks on drawer linings, hand-forged nails or wooden pegs, original brass backplates with aged patination, and natural timber shrinkage across wide boards.

An antique pine coffer functions as functional storage at the foot of a bed or placed along an entryway wall. The warm timber tones complement contemporary neutral colour schemes, linen upholstery, and natural woven materials.

Maintain pine furniture by wiping surfaces with a soft, dry dust cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish once or twice per year. Keep the piece clear of direct heat sources and damp environments to prevent wood movement or joint separation.
