Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Guilloche enamel pin cushions gained widespread popularity during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras through to the George V period. Craftspeople combined precision engine-turning techniques with translucent enamelling over sterling silver bases to create decorative accessories for dressing tables and sewing rooms.

These items were crafted using sterling silver or silver-gilt frames, decorated with glass enamel applied over machine-engraved metal patterns. The central cushion element typically consisted of velvet, silk, or wool stuffing designed to hold needles and pins without causing tarnish.

Authentic pieces feature official British assay hallmarks indicating the silver purity, maker mark, town mark, and date letter. The guilloche work beneath the enamel should display crisp, geometric lathe-cut pattern work with no modern synthetic resins.

Place the item on a tray atop a bedroom vanity table, bedside table, or shelf alongside glass perfume bottles and trinket dishes. It can also be displayed within a curio cabinet or glass cloche as part of a historical haberdashery collection.

Dust the item gently with a soft microfibre cloth, keeping it away from direct moisture, extreme temperature changes, and harsh chemical silver polishes. Avoid submerging the piece in liquid to protect the interior cushion fabric and underlying metal from corrosion.
