19th C. French Silver Inlaid Tortoiseshell Aide Memoire, Circa 1880

Description

This charming silver and pique tortoiseshell "souvenir" aide memoire or carnet de bal was made in France circa 1880. Of rounded rectangular form, the front inlaid with silver pique decorations surrounding a vacant cartouche. The back inlaid plain. The original pencil slides out and allows the opening of the case. The interior with pink moire silk. The original pages with days of the week preceded by a souvenir notebook. Exquisite!

Hallmarks:

Unmarked but tested as silver.

Dimensions:

9.5cm x 7cm x 1cm

3.5 inches x 2.6 inches x 0.4 inches.

Condition:

Good condition.

Crisp engravings.

Clean Interior with a little wear, commensurate with age and use.
