A fine Minton bone china porcelain dessert plate decorated in stunning Japanese style, with a central gilded sun with textured background, reserving a moth or butterfly, painted naturalistically in muted enamels. A stylised design radiates from this central sun, dot printed outline and hand enamelled, with bamboo leaves and other carefully placed foliate sprays and flowering sprig. A scattering of naturalistically coloured butterflies and a wasp flit about the scene. Finished with a gilt rim and an inner decorative band showcasing Minton''s patented acid gilding, with a subtle Greek key and dot design. Impressed factory mark and date cypher appears to be for 1875.
