Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Egyptian Revival decorative arts emerged following archaeological discoveries in Egypt throughout the nineteenth century. Silverware and metalwork from this period feature distinct motifs such as winged sphinxes, pharaoh portrait heads, lotus blossoms, hieroglyphic-style engraving, and structured geometric borders.

Nineteenth-century standishes were commonly constructed from solid sterling silver or electroplated base metals, often incorporating heavy cut glass or crystal ink bottles. Additional materials included brass, bronze, cast iron, and timber bases such as mahogany or rosewood.

Authentic Victorian electroplated silver items usually bear makers marks or initials alongside hallmarks indicating electroplating, such as EPNS (Electroplated Nickel Silver) or EPBM. Construction details typically feature hand-chased ornamentation, crisp casting seams, and period-appropriate wear to base metals on contact points.

An antique silver inkstand serves as a focal focal point when placed on an executive office desk, library table, or hallway console. It functions well as a decorative sculptural object, styling piece for stacked books, or vanity display tray in traditional and eclectic interiors.

Silver plate should be gently cleaned using a soft, non-abrasive cloth and dedicated silver polish to avoid removing thin surface plating. Cut glass components should be washed separately in warm, soapy water using a soft brush, avoiding harsh chemical solvents.
