Bristol green glass gained prominence in England during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Glassmakers introduced metallic oxides into lead glass mixtures to produce vivid green stemware, decanters, and tableware designed for formal dining.

Georgian green glassware was produced using hand-blown lead glass coloured with iron or copper oxides. Each piece was individually shaped using blowpipes, pontils, and hand-forming tools, resulting in slight variation across sets.
