A rare pair of Barr, Flight and Barr Worcester Porcelain candlesticks, c.1810. Of cylindrical form with spreading feet and gilded serpent handles, painted with scenes containing thatched buildings and a river landscape, with  neoclassical  gilding.

Script marks referring to Coventry St address.

A similar shape pair are illustrated by Charles Dawson, Worcester Flight & Barr Porcelain (2023), p.151, fig.15.1.

Produced in Worcester between 1804 and 1813, this period of porcelain manufacture is renowned for soft-paste bodies, exceptionally fine hand-painted enamel decoration, elaborate gilding, and Regency classical forms.

These pieces were formed using liquid porcelain clay cast into plaster moulds, glaze-fired, and subsequently decorated by hand with mineral pigments and mercury gold leaf before undergoing secondary firings.
