London City Antiques has dated this Regency Mahogany Desk Chair to the Regency era.

The shaped top rail incorporates an attractive spiral carved crest, flowing into elegantly curved reeded arms supported by turned uprights. The back is centred by a finely carved and moulded splat featuring a decorative floral roundel, adding subtle detail whilst maintaining the refined simplicity for which Regency furniture is renowned.

The generously proportioned removable drop-in seat has been professionally upholstered in quality green material,, providing both comfort and practicality. Drop-in seats were a desirable feature, allowing them to be easily removed for reupholstery or maintenance without dismantling the chair.

Raised on elegant reeded sabre legs, the chair has a wonderfully balanced and graceful profile whilst remaining exceptionally sturdy. The beautifully figured mahogany has acquired a rich warm colour and mellow patina over nearly two centuries, further enhancing its character and appeal.

A particularly attractive example of an English Regency desk chair, combining elegant design, quality craftsmanship and everyday practicality.
Condition
Excellent antique condition with age-related wear, marks and patina consistent with age and use. The chair is solid and sturdy throughout, the drop-in seat fits correctly and the hide upholstery is in excellent order.
