Victorian Taxidermy- Ring Necked Parakeet In Picture Frame Case By William Bazeley & Sons Of Northampton. Circa 1900

The name ''Bazeley'' in the taxidermy field of collecting is well known; however, it’s usually the younger brother George whose taxidermy turns up today.
 
This case is by William Bazeley (older brother) and from my experience is much rarer. I have had many cases by George Bazeley cases over the years, but this is the first time I have owned a case by William. In ‘A History of British Taxidermy’ by Cristopher Frost, George is discussed in detail, but Williams only mention is that ‘George had been trained by his elder brother’.
 
William Bazeley (1858 – ?) worked from around 1880 until the early 20th century. The delightful trade label on this particular case, states ‘Naturalist, Taxidermist, Bee Hives & Appliances’ and further lists ‘frame maker, picture dealer and print seller, plus restoring & re-gilding’. The ‘frame makers’ entry being evident in the quality of the frame he has chosen for this case.
