A very good example of an English 17thc bronze mortar from a London unidentified foundry....it stands on a raised broad base and has a wide flared out rim....it is cast with a vacant heart-shaped ribbon cartouche, twice and rosette with six radiating stems....also twice. The mortar is in fine condition for its great age, with a good natural colour and patination and is of a very nice size.
English - London C1670-90.
