The fabulous heavy and sturdy piece has a moulded rim leading down to the pear-shaped body that sits on a wide circular foot.

The whole of which is decorated in beautiful hand-painted scenes with wild beasts, figureheads, and geometric patterns.

Hand-painted in colours of yellow, green, blue and brown.

It is a beautiful piece that looks incredible and displays well.

Italian majolica, or maiolica, is a tin-glazed earthenware tradition originating during the Renaissance, characterised by vibrant opaque glazes over terracotta clay. These vessels feature hand-painted polychrome decoration detailing mythological figures, heraldry, grotesques, or scrolling foliage.

Artisans shape vessels from terracotta clay, apply an opaque tin-based white enamel coat, and hand-paint classical design motifs directly onto the unfired glaze using metallic oxide pigments before high-temperature kiln firing.
