Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Arts and Crafts metalwork emphasizes handcraftsmanship, visible structural construction, and honest use of materials. Produced predominantly between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, pieces frequently combine contrasting metals like brass and copper with minimal, functional ornamentation.

Edwardian candlesticks were commonly manufactured from spun or cast brass, sheet copper, and turned hardwoods. Mixed-metal combinations were popular for decorative contrast, often weighted with iron inside the base for stability.

Authentic period pieces display natural age-related patina, slight hand-forming irregularities, and period-appropriate joining methods such as hand-cut threads or rivets. Modern reproductions often exhibit uniform machine casting, lightweight compositions, and synthetic lacquers.

Positioning metal candlesticks on a timber sideboard, dining table, or mantelpiece adds warm metallic tones to contemporary spaces. They pair effectively alongside natural linen textures, dark timber furniture, and minimalist ceramics.

Dust metal surface areas regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth to remove debris. Avoid abrasive polishes or chemical solvents that strip historical patina, opting instead for gentle, non-reactive cleaning pastes applied sparingly when necessary.
