Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A revolving bookcase is a freestanding storage unit featuring open shelves mounted on a central pivot mechanism, allowing access to books from all four sides. Popularised during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, these pieces were designed for private libraries, studies, and drawing rooms.

These pieces were typically constructed from hardwoods such as mahogany or walnut, often featuring decorative marquetry or parquetry inlays using satinwood and boxwood. The internal rotating mechanisms were built using durable cast iron bases and ball-bearing units.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut dovetail joints on any integrated drawers, period brass hardware, natural timber patination, and heavy cast iron rotating mechanisms underneath the base. The presence of wood crossbanding and delicate shell or starburst paterae is characteristic of Sheraton Revival designs from this period.

A revolving bookcase functions well as an occasional side table next to an armchair or sofa. Top the surface with a table lamp or decorative object, and populate the lower compartments with curated art books or literature.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry microfibre cloth. Apply a natural beeswax polish twice a year along the grain to protect the wood finish and prevent the inlay veneers from lifting, keeping the item away from direct heat sources and damp environments.
