Vintage Leather frame with mounted stag head and the motto ''Cuidich ''n Righ'' (meaning ''Help the King'') is a historic Scottish Gaelic motto. It belongs to the Clan Mackenzie and was famously worn by the Seaforth Highlanders, the only British Army regiment to feature a Gaelic motto.
The Legend: According to 13th-century folklore, a member of Clan Mackenzie saved King Alexander III from a charging stag, inspiring both the motto and their stag''s head cap badge.Regimental History: The motto was used by the Seaforth Highlanders (raised in 1778) and later inherited by the Queen''s Own Highlanders. Today, it is honored by The Highlanders, 4th Battalion, Royal Regiment of Scotland (4 SCOTS).
This fabulous leather easel-backed frame, 26cm x 17cm, is offered in good condition, with a few small indentations to the leather and a tiny fragment on the top edge lifted. Display-wise, this looks great, and given the military connection, it is a very collectable item.
