Antique 18th Century Welsh Oak Dresser

A charming antique 18th century Welsh oak dresser of two-part construction, with a moulded cornice above a boarded open plate rack fitted with two fixed shelves. The base has a broad plank top above three drawers, all fitted with traditional brass knob handles, over a pair of panelled cupboard doors enclosing a shelved interior. Constructed in beautifully figured oak with traditional panelled sides, this is a beautifully proportioned and highly practical piece. It retains a lovely rich oak colour and wonderful patina developed over centuries of use.

CONDITION REPORT:

In good antique condition overall with surface wear, marks and scratches consistent with age and use. The top displays age-related wear, historic shrinkage and old repairs, all of which are typical for a piece of this age and add to its character. Notable repairs are to the front left corner and back edge. There are minor knocks and scuffs around the edges and feet, with general wear throughout commensurate with over two centuries of use. There is evidence of historic woodworm, particularly to the back which has long gone and been treated as a precaution. The drawers and cupboard doors open and close well, and the dresser is solid, sturdy and ready for everyday use. Overall, a lovely example.
