Description

This super quality antique Barrister's wig which is manufactured by top wig maker Ravenscroft Law dates from the 19th century, is made of woven horsehair, marked with the maker's label for Ravenscroft to the inside and also with a velum label with the original owner's name of Shier.

This Victorian wig which comes complete with it's black and gold toleware Ravenscroft tin which is marked to the top with the owner's name of Peter Shier Esq, reads the same as to the inside of the wig. Also marked to the inside of the tin with Ravenscroft Law. Wig & Robe Makers. Lincolns Inns. London.

A very nice original antique piece that also includes some court collars.

Material: Horsehair wig. Tole metal tin.

Maker: Ravenscroft Law.

Dimensions of tin: Length: 26.5 cm (10 1/2"). Width: 19 cm (7 1/2"). Height: 9.5 cm (3 3/4").

Approx dimensions of wig: Length: 17 cm (6 3/4"). Width: 18 cm (7").

Total weight: 958 g.

Condition: Very good antique condition with some signs of use in keeping with age. Some wear to tin. Some loose hairs and staining. Please see pictures.
