A superb pair of antique copper ship’s navigation lanterns by Alderson & Gyde Ltd featuring substantial copper bodies with heavy brass carrying handles and thick Fresnel glass lenses. Clearly marked “Bow Port Pat. 23” and “Bow Starboard Pat. 24”, these authentic maritime lanterns would have originally been used aboard a vessel to display the required port and starboard navigation lights.
Now professionally converted for electric use, they make striking decorative lighting pieces, ideal for coastal homes, pubs, restaurants, bars, or as statement interior décor. The rich aged copper patina, original fittings, and industrial nautical character make this an impressive matching pair for collectors of maritime antiques and reclaimed ship’s fittings.
Both lanterns display expected age-related wear, marks, and patina consistent with their working life, adding to their authentic appeal. Please study the photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
