An 18th-century French walnut commode with finely executed parquetry veneers. The top is laid with a geometric parquetry panel and shaped moulded edge, echoed on the drawer fronts and sides. Three smooth-running drawers retain their original gilt-bronze escutcheons and handles. The back shows honest age with early boards, and there are traces of historical woodworm — long inactive and fully treated.
