Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Chinese cloisonne tripod censer is a three-legged metal vessel used historically for burning incense during rituals, meditation, or ancestral worship. The technique involves applying enamel pastes within wire cells soldered onto a cast bronze body.

Traditional censers are typically cast from bronze or brass and decorated using enamelling techniques such as cloisonne or champleve. The vessels feature cast feet, side handles, and pierced covers to allow smoke to disperse.

Authentic late Qing dynasty pieces display hand-cast bronze bodies with visible tool marks, natural patina from age, and minor irregularities in the enamel work. Base marks, weight, and hand-fitted lids also indicate period authenticity.

Place the censer on a sideboard, bookshelf, or mantelpiece to serve as a focal decorative object. Pairing dark metalwork with natural timber or modern ceramic surfaces creates a balanced contrast.

Dust the censer gently using a soft, dry brush or microfibre cloth to clean intricate areas. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, which can strip the natural patina and damage the delicate enamel work.
