Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, work tables were designed primarily to hold needlework and embroidery materials. Crafted from fine timbers like rosewood or mahogany, they feature compact drawers and a suspended fabric basket underneath.

These pieces were commonly constructed using rosewood or mahogany veneers over oak or pine frames. The integrated under-baskets were framed in wood and lined with pleated silk, satin, or cotton fabric.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, turned timber or bone knobs, natural oxidisation on the underside of panels, and original brass castors or bun feet.

A rosewood work table functions effectively as an occasional side table beside a armchair, an accent piece in a hallway, or a compact bedside table in a bedroom.

Keep the timber away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to prevent veneer lifting. Dust regularly with a dry cloth and apply beeswax polish sparingly along the grain.
