Fine Watercolour by Marian Alice Montford (b.1882)
A finely rendered early 20th century English watercolour by listed artist Marian Alice Montford (née Dibdin, b.1882).
The work depicts a timber-framed cottage with an oriel window, partly overgrown with ivy, and a lone figure at the gate gazing toward a distant windmill. Painted with a keen eye for architectural detail and a gentle, natural palette, it captures a quiet rural moment.
The artist is recorded as having exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artists (dates on label verso state 1891–1905, which may not correspond exactly with her own exhibition career).
Mounted and set behind glass in a sympathetic later gilt frame.
