Pair of Mid 20th c. Italian Portraits in Swept Gilt Frames

A good-looking pair of mid-20th century Italian portraits depicting a husband and wife, painted in oil on canvas and board, each signed and dated 1957 and 1964.

The sitters are presented in a relaxed, natural manner, with soft colour and confident, unfussy brushwork typical of the period. Lightly suggested coastal and architectural backgrounds give a gentle sense of place without overwhelming the compositions.

Both paintings are set in matching gilt frames with pleasing scrolling detail and a warm, mellow tone. The frames have a particularly attractive, slightly time-softened finish and contribute greatly to the overall decorative appeal.

Both frames measure 48 x 58 cm.

Offered in good condition commensurate with age. Light marks and wear to frames in align with age
