Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian needlework map sampler is an embroidered geographic map created during the Georgian era, predominantly between 1714 and 1830. These pieces were typically executed by young women in educational settings to combine geography lessons with needlework instruction.

These samplers were commonly worked on silk or linen grounds using silk or wool threads. The outlines of counties and coastlines were stitched using simple line stitches such as stem stitch or chain stitch, often mounted in wood or gilded frames.

Authentic pieces generally display period-appropriate stitching techniques, natural thread fading, and period alignment in place names and boundaries. Signature details including the stitchers name, age, and date of completion are frequently present near the lower border.

Framed samplers function well as focal points on gallery walls or positioned above sideboards and mantels. Pairing historic textile art with understated modern framing or traditional mahogany furnishings creates visual interest through contrasting textures.

Preservation requires framing with UV-protective glass and mounting on acid-free backing boards. Items should be displayed away from direct sunlight, high humidity, and heat sources to prevent thread degradation and textile discolouration.
