Pair Of Samson Paris Bleu Céleste Porcelain Vases In The Sèvres Taste, C.1860–1870

£500    $670    €586
Produced by Edmé Samson & Cie, Paris, during the Napoleon III period, this refined pair of French porcelain vases captures the elegance and luxury of the celebrated Sèvres tradition. The brilliant Bleu Céleste ground, enriched with elaborate Rococo gilding, reflects the remarkable technical and artistic standards for which Samson became internationally respected.

Each vase is decorated with beautifully hand-painted reserves depicting winged putti among clouds after François Boucher. The delicate figure painting, crisp white porcelain and richly gilded ornament combine to produce a balanced and highly decorative composition.

Both vases bear the characteristic underglaze cobalt-blue Sèvres-style interlaced L''s pseudomark incorporating Samson''s distinctive letter S. Founded in Paris in 1845, Edmé Samson & Cie gained worldwide recognition for producing museum-quality interpretations of Europe''s finest porcelains.
