A captivating and beautifully atmospheric 19th-century Continental School oil on canvas game still life, in the classic Dutch Golden Age manner. This painting centres on a beautifully rendered domestic white duck – possibly an historic Dutch Call Duck or white Mallard sport - suspended against a rustic stone background. The artist has expertly captured the soft texture of its pure white plumage and the sweeping curve of its wing, using vibrant ivory tones to create a luminous contrast against the deep, moody shadows of the larder.

The central subject is dynamically framed by a rich autumn harvest, featuring clusters of grapes, quince, peaches, apples and winding green foliage. Executed with dramatic chiaroscuro and a warm, earthy colour palette, the composition intentionally honours the grand 17th-century Dutch and Flemish "pronk" (deluxe banquet) and larder traditions.
