Hand-Painted & Gilded Porcelain Moon Flask Vase, Signed Baston, c.1890
A fine quality hand-painted and gilded porcelain moon flask vase, dating from the late 19th century and almost certainly of Austrian manufacture in the Vienna style.
The vase stands on four moulded gilt feet with twin angular handles and a gilt rim. The front features a finely executed portrait of a lady in a feathered hat and purple gown, signed Baston to the lower right. The reverse is richly decorated with raised tooled gilt foliate ornament.
The portrait remains vivid, and the gilding retains good brightness. There are some stained hairline cracks to the rim which appear stable and confined to the upper section
