Late 19th Century Sèvres-Style Bleu Céleste Porcelain Vase
A decorative late 19th-century porcelain vase in the Sèvres style, dating to circa 1890. Of baluster form with pedestal foot, the vase is finely hand-painted with reserves including a portrait of a lady in 18th-century dress, a romantic pastoral scene, and floral bouquets. The vibrant bleu céleste ground is enriched with raised gilt scrollwork and jewelled highlights.
The underside bears a pseudo-Sèvres interlaced mark in underglaze blue, typical of revivalist pieces produced in France and Dresden during the latter part of the 19th century.
Measures 20 x 20 x 39 (height) cm
Decorative order overall, with surface wear and rubbing to gilding in places. The base has been subject to an old repair at the stem, with filler visible, as shown.
